What’s your role at GR8 People?
I’m a UX/UI designer as a part of the product team at GR8 People. It’s my responsibility to get the functional requirements that our product managers draw up for an individual project and help get those plans working visually. My end goal is to get those product requirements working in the best way possible for GR8 People customers. I help with both user experience, which shapes the way our product is used, as well as user interface, which is the actual design of our product.
What’s your favorite thing about working at GR8 People?
First and foremost, the team I work with is awesome. Second, it’s fun to be able to work on a singular product, especially getting to shape it and evolve it. In previous jobs, my work was more client-based, which meant I was working on different things for different clients all the time. I love seeing our product grow and being part of its evolution. I really enjoy doing UX and UI and bringing product requirements to life. It’s fun to see the product managers’ ideas turn into actual parts of the product.
I’m really excited for the future of GR8 People, too. I’m most excited about the new design system that we’re creating right now—where we’re creating a standard for the look, feel, behaviors and measurements of the product. Our product development and enhancements will remain consistent and become easier as a result.
What is something about you that would surprise people?
I’m developing a video game! My friend and I have been working on this for about a year and we’re hoping to have something in beta by the end of 2020. It’s my fun little side project, and I love working on it.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I am an avid gardener, specifically keeping a vegetable garden. I’m also doing a small cutting garden this year which, I’m thrilled about. Another one of my hobbies is snowboarding—I haven’t been able to do much of it since I moved to Virginia, but I’ve replaced it with beach walking, which is also nice. One of my favorite places to be is on my family’s boat. There’s nothing better than when we take the boat out and just sit in the bay and relax. Art, in general, is another thing I like to do in my spare time. I’ve been interested in art my whole life and relish it as a creative outlet. Oh, and I also like playing video games!

• Favorite food: a good salad (I know, that’s boring—but I’m a vegetarian and really love vegetables!)
• Superpower of choice: the ability to freeze things so that I can ice skate or snowboard whenever I want

• Pets: one dog, a white shepherd/husky mix named Cloud, and one hermit crab named Hermes
